Workshop by Echo Film School and Studio 

This workshop will cover essential tips and techniques for taking your visual storytelling to the next level with camera movement. We will explore motivated camera movement, 3 dimensional storytelling, moving the camera on a budget, and when NOT to move the camera.

About Echo Film School and Studio:

Echo was established as a creative and educational hub for independent filmmakers in Houston, Texas. Working with local industry partners and schools within the Houston Independent School District, Echo delivers first class training, workshops and filmmaking bootcamps to help raise the professional standards of our filmmaking community. Furthermore, Echo’s partnership with Filmatic Productions provides rental equipment, studio space and other filmmaking resources to anyone who needs them.


Chase Gibson

Hailing from Houston, TX, Chase has been an active filmmaker working all over the state of Texas. Chase started his career in the film and television industry as a boom operator and sound mixer working on numerous features and commercials. It was after working on his 3rd feature as a sound mixer that Chase decided to try out a new modality in film as part of the camera department. His passion and experience in the camera department grew as he worked on various productions with clients such as Puma, Nike and the Texas Beef Council. Today, Chase is the Head of Production and instructor at Echo Film School.

Barry Atkins

Barry has been teaching filmmaking to students of all ages for close to a decade. Coming form a higher education in writing, his las teaching job was in Dubai helping students shoot award winning short films. He has been involved in film productions on three continents and has found a new home in Houston, where he opened Echo Film School and Studio. Barry looks forward to serving the independent filmmaking community in Houston for many years to come.

Lecture by Remy Carter 

This class is an introduction to producing, from the beginning stages of development and raising money, to picking the right sales representative, distributor, and getting your deliverables out the door. There will be an hour of Q+A after the discussion to field any thoughts on the subject.

Mr. Carter will be available the next day for 15 minute individual sessions. Sign up sheets will be available: first come, first serve.

About Remy Carter:

Remy Carter is an award-winning feature film and music video producer whose 18-year career spans a variety of commercial and creative projects the last 18 years. He was recently the producer on the hit Sunday night sports show “Texas Sports Nation” that he developed with the host Jerome Solomon. Carter is currently developing several feature films with his producing partner Robert Katz and launching a new TV series this fall. He is also the VP of Development at the Sam Houston SW Film Investment Fund, which raises money for P&A for theatrical releases of films like The Magnificent Seven and Olympus Has Fallen
